Our In-House Advanced Diagnostic Tools
Our digital dental services now available at Centre Street Dental include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Digital X-Rays—Patients may wonder why their dentist takes digital x-rays during their dental check-ups. We have opted for this diagnostic tool because it is safer for families—it emits up to 90 per cent less radiation than traditional x-rays.
We love keeping our patients safe, but a significant perk includes the high-resolution digital images that are more precise than traditional x-ray films—allowing our dentists the ability to zoom in, improve contrast, and adjust exposure. This allows us to identify oral health conditions early.
-
Intraoral Cameras—Patient education means our patients make informed decisions regarding their oral health. Rather than describing an oral health problem, it's more effective to show patients exactly what we see when our dentists examine your teeth and gums.
Intraoral cameras are small, handheld cameras that take high-resolution images that can be viewed on monitors in the treatment room.
-
Rotary Endodontics—We use a powerful electrical instrument to provide gentle and effective root canal treatments in place of traditional steel manual files.
-
Electric Handpieces—These powerful tools help us shape and finish dental restorations, minimally prep teeth for restorations, and keeps procedures comfortable for patients.
- Digital Records—Patient records allow us to keep an accurate record of your oral health over the years. Due to the digital nature of the documents, we can instantly share your file with other dental health professionals, including specialists.

Frequently Asked Questions
A cancer diagnosis is a very challenging episode in anyone’s life and confronting the whole treatment process can be daunting. Thinking about how your diagnosis can affect your mouth can be a little way down the list of priorities and that is very understandable.
However, maintaining regular appointments with your dentist both during and after your initial treatment is really important and this regardless of the type of cancer that you have been diagnosed with. All cancer treatment can have significant impacts on a person’s mouth.
This is because most cancer treatment has a ‘drying’ effect on the mouth. What does this mean? Well, these treatments can lead to a reduction in the amount of saliva that is produced in the mouth. Saliva is THE most important thing for tooth and gum health. Less saliva means that your mouth has less ability to stay healthy regardless of how well your brushing and flossing routine is at home.
At Centre Street Dental, we recommend that if you have had a cancer diagnosis, it is important to make your dentist part of your overall ‘cancer treatment’ team. We invite you to call us for an appointment should you require any further information.
If your teeth are looking worn or shorter than they used to, it is highly likely that you are grinding (bruxing) your teeth. It is NOT because you are getting older. People grind their teeth as a response to stress and this grinding can occur during the day or night. The biggest issue with grinding teeth is that it is something that is done subconsciously. We are just not aware that it is happening. Grinding your teeth can have some serious consequences to your ability to bite, chew and smile and can also lead to jaw joint problems or TMJ Dysfunction.
At Centre Street Dental in Casino, Dr Greg have vast experience in recognising and treating the effects of bruxing. It is important to remember that, as dentists, we cannot stop your grinding. Grinding and clenching your teeth are psychological responses to stress. The treatment that can be provided is there to prevent further damage to the teeth and the jaw joint.
If you think that your teeth are getting shorter, we invite you to call us at Centre Street Dental for a consultation.
