Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Teeth Whitening

How can we help you?

At Centre Street Dental, we welcome any questions and are here to help our patients make educated and informed decisions regarding their dental health and smiles.

We have answered some of our most common questions that patients ask.

If your question is not on this list, please let us know.

Teeth Whitening

Chipped and worn teeth are often unsightly and can lead to a genuine lack of self confidence. The causes of chipping and wearing are varied and as such there are a range of treatments available. Small chips can usually be repaired by some simple bonding procedures.

Sometimes the teeth are not aligned properly and this can lead to unusual wear patterns in the teeth. At Centre Street Dental, our Invisalign Go system may be able to be used to realign the teeth prior to reshaping and restoring the teeth with bonding or porcelain veneers. If the wear is severe, then more extensive reconstructive work may be necessary.

At Centre Street Dental, we believe that it is important that our patients should know all of the available options and the pro’s and con’s of each of these options. It is only then that a truly informed decision can be made.

If you would like to know more about the options available for you, please book in for a consultation appointment with Dr Greg Normoyle.

At Centre Street Dental in Casino, our cosmetic treatments range from simple ‘at home’ whitening through to full smile design and reconstruction. If you have had braces in the past and now have some relapse tooth movement, we can use our ‘Invisalign Go’ system to re- straighten the teeth. Chipped and worn front teeth can be restored using tooth coloured bonding techniques or porcelain veneers or crowns. The range of treatments is vast and can suit nearly any budget.

Dr Greg Normoyle can complete a digital scan of your mouth and develop a digital smile design which can be transferred to your mouth using 3D printing technology. Then it is simply a matter of deciding what is right for you.

If you would like to know what cosmetic treatments would best suit you, call us today to organise a consultation.

Professional teeth whitening typically does not hurt, but you may experience temporary sensitivity after whitening treatment. If you’re using one of our at-home kits, your dentist in Casino, NSW, may encourage you to take a break from whitening if symptoms persist or worsen.

We do recommend whitening your teeth under the direction of a dentist. Whitening on your own, with an over-the-counter option, may lead to prolonged sensitivity or even enamel damage. The ingredients in some systems may not be appropriate for your oral health profile.

Getting Started with Full Teeth Whitening in Casino, NSW

  • Consultation: The dentist will assess your teeth and gums to ensure teeth whitening is safe for you.
  • Preparation: In some cases, we recommend pre-treatments before teeth whitening, such as professional teeth cleaning to ensure a whiter result.
  • Teeth Whitening: We provide custom at-home tooth-whitening trays. These trays help prevent tooth sensitivity.

To lower your risk for tooth sensitivity, be sure to wear your custom tooth trays correctly and add only a pea-sized amount of the whitening gel to the receptacles.

All patients and situations differ so that teeth whitening experiences will vary. Your dentist will let you know what to expect.
