We will try to see you as soon as possible, generally on the same day. Even though we set aside emergency time for each day sometimes our appointment books are so busy that unfortunately, we may be unable to get you in until the next day. In these circumstances, we will contact you immediately if a sooner time becomes available.
At Centre Street Dental, we keep designated emergency appointments available every day to try to accommodate any emergency. If these appointments have already been filled we will try to see you as soon as possible and will keep your name on our standby list in case we have a last minute opening.
Jaw pain can happen for a number of different reasons. It can be related to a tooth. It may be from a gum or bone infection. It can also be because you have been clenching or grinding your teeth. Whenever you have jaw pain it is important to see a dentist so that the origin of this pain can be diagnosed and appropriate treatment options can be discussed.
If you have lost a filling, it is important to see a dentist as soon as possible even if the tooth is not sore. Exposing the inner parts of a tooth to the mouth environment can lead to deep food traps and rapid tooth decay. At Centre Street Dental, we strongly advise our patients to have these teeth treated quickly to avoid more damage to the tooth and potentially more complex and expensive treatment.
If you have lost a filling, contact us for an appointment and Dr Greg Normoyle can assess and advise on how best to restore the area.
Occlusal guards or splints are used to protect the teeth in people who clench or grind their teeth. They are made of a hard plastic/acrylic and are custom made at Centre Street Dental. Dr Greg Normoyle recommend that patients wear their splints at night to protect their teeth whilst they are sleeping. Patients are also encouraged to wear their splint if they are working alone in front of a computer or any other time during the day when they don’t need to chat to anyone.
Splints do not stop people from grinding. However, a well-made splint will protect the teeth from further harm as well as reducing the often associated jaw muscle pain. If you think that you may need an occlusal guard/splint call us at Centre Street Dental for an appointment.
